Continuing off from Business Cards and Wedding Cards, the next one is probably certificates. Educational Institutions, Private Organizations dole out Participation, Winner/Runner up, Experience, Proficiency, Competency Certificates in the dozen. Is there any true value for the certificates. Most of the certificate value is diluted mainly due to the sheer numbers, every person worth his salt has his certificates stacked up some place. There surely ought to be a simpler way. I see absolutely no value for any of the so called Participation certificates stacked, more so when the credibility of the Organizations issuing the same is under doubt. When we were in college, there was this thought that you have n number of certificates it would impress the interviewer. I dont think interviewer ever bother about them, but the fascination about certificates has still not changed. Except for probably one's school/college certificates, an university topper or probably an award from an esteemed Organization, none should matter. But I suppose "esteemed" differs from person to person.
PS: I still have my Geography Talent, GK, 2nd Part Certificates, along with volunteer for the CIVIL Department in APOGEE, plus a few Chennai School Cultural certificates along with some meaningless training which I have attended as a working professional in the last few years.

I personally feel certicicates are not only for the interviewers to have a glance.Though it is highly appreciable if they do.But not to get disheartened if they dont.Basically as it boast one's confidence and over aperiod of time cement the same.
It plays a major role at many other places in our life.(Foorget abt the least bothered interviwer ,may be he was jealous or frustrated as he dint have as many)
1.It will be a great MOTIVATING FACTOR for your children as they grow.
2.They get the feeling of What my father was as a child
3.The child gets many messages indirectly fromthe parent which he refer later at any other places
4.Yes, another impt point, one's spouse would secretly come to know your strenght which will give more weightage to your personality(Isn't it)
5.last but not the least, it will be a great time pass in our old age time,Green Memories.
So, ENCOURAGE your child to get more and more certificates
